First I would like to say that I was so pleased with you Lily with your help with selecting the correct bear for my friend who is dying with cancer, and for your concern and good service to make sure that I got the bear as soon as possible, since my friend doesn’t have much time. I appreciate your follow through so I could have the bear the next day.

Then if that wasn’t good enough..I received a call from you Lily, that Paul the manufactor no less, would be delivering it to my home and that there wouldn’t be any delivery charge!! It really does make me happy to see such thoughtfulness. I just know that my friend will love your wonderful little bear.

Again I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and thank you, Paul for making such a wonderful, warm, aromatherpy (which is so important too), type of thing that will make my friends last days better.

I hope that your business continues to do well, and I will remember your cute little bears the next time I need a special gift for someone. I will also spread the word about your wonderful product and your kindness will never be forgotten.

Aromatherapy Stuffed Animals

The first product I ever purchased from EchoMerx was the Aromatherapy Panda…And I absolutely LOVE this panda! If you’ve never heard of EchoMerx’s Aromatherapy stuffed animal, it’s basically a stuffed animal, a hot pad, and a cold pack, all in one. I own the penguin too, and they’re so adorable!

The inside of the stuffed animal is filled with flaxseed and a custom blend of 9 different herbs. I can stick my panda in the microwave for about 2 minutes, and when I take her out, she stays nice and warm for at least 3 hours. Unlike many heating pads I’ve used, the Aromatherapy stuffed animal doesn’t emit a strange smell. Instead, it smells like a comforting, earthy blend of lavender and other types of herbs. If I want to use her as a cold pack, I simply put her in a clean plastic bag, and stick her in the freezer for a few hours or in the refrigerator overnight. When I’m not in need of either, I simply snuggle with the room temperature panda like a regular stuffed animal!

These stuffed animals are great for many uses. I love using my panda during those bothersome time-of-the-months! For all the women who get those nasty cramps once a month, these stuffed animals are perfect for placing over your stomach while you nap, read, surf the web, watch tv, or any activity that involves sitting. They stay nice and warm and help get rid of those cramps quickly. You can also use it as a hot pad on muscle cramps. Similarly, you can use a cooled down stuffed animal to place over injuries to slow swelling or help numb the pain a little. My 5 year old sister also loves my panda, so much so that I’m considering buying her her own! She used to be scared to sleep alone at night, but when she can cuddle with a warm teddy bear, it’s the next best thing to her mom (or me) falling asleep with her. Most stuffed animals weigh a few ounces, but the Aromatherapy animals, with their herb stuffings, are much heavier. However, I personally like that my panda is slightly heavier. It makes it feel more real, as if I’m actually carrying an animal, instead of just a lightweight bundle of airy cotton.

For those who already own one of these stuffed animals, or are planning to purchase one, I must warn you to be careful when microwaving them! I made a mistake microwaving mine, and because of that, my poor panda now has a hole burnt through the top of her head. I was so sad…

This happened probably because my microwave is too small. When I put my panda in, she just barely fit, and there was no room for her to rotate. The top of her head ended up pressed against one of the pads on the inside of the microwave, and I’m guessing that’s what burned the hole. So if you do have one of these stuffed animals and want to warm it up in the microwave, make sure it fits and has enough room to rotate!

Soothing home spa at right temperature

As more and more people are indulging themselves with the concept of stay-cations, choosing a soak in your own bathroom seems a logical step. Soothingz.com offers many organic bath salts and soaks that feature brands by Masada. Although hot tubs and home spas provide the perfect setting for relaxation, they can become dangerous if some general rules are not followed accordingly.

One of the most important rules you need to follow is the water temperature in your tub. Water temperatures that exceed a certain level can potentially become dangerous to individuals using the tub, so a thermometer is always recommended. We prefer a infrared thermometer with visible red beam. Just point the red beam to the water and have a easy reading.

Most expert suggest that the water temperature in your hot tub or spa should not, at any point in time, exceed 100-degrees Fahrenheit or 37-degrees Celsius. Immersion in hot water above these temperatures, especially for prolonged amounts of time, can lead to a variety of heat-related illnesses such as stroke, heart attack, nausea, dizziness and possible brain damage.

Hot spa sometimes can act as a relief catalyst for some symptom, i.e. migraine pain, nasal congestion because the soak will accelerate the metabolism and blood circulation. But it’s not recommended, as a precaution, for people taking prescribed medication or under severe alcohol influence.

It is important to recognize special considerations when setting the temperature of your hot tub. Children do not adapt to heat as well as adults do. That said, if children are going to be in the hot tub, the temperature should be lowered at least a couple of degrees in order to ensure their safety.

Always use the thermometer to measure the temperature especially when trickling water with foam bath additive. The foam above the water surface can disguise the real temperature beneath. Many people tend to use the “steam factor” as a guide for how hot the water temperature is. Often times, with the foam on the surface, the temperature can be hotter.

Some other tips that people has found useful:

Put aside a cold drink to prevent dehydration.
Soak and if you feel it’s too hot, slowly emerge from the water to expose the body heat
Use the flat surface of your tub as hand rail to support your body
Use a spa pillow to find comfort for your neck
Find a anti-skid mat to prevent slippery
If your tub is by the window, leave a small opening for cooler air

In addition, it is important to recognize the dangers involved with pregnant women. For the most part, pregnant women should avoid hot tubs throughout their pregnancy. Ultimately it is your decision; make it wisely. The choices you make will have a great impact on your health and the health of all individuals using your spa.

Matt G.: Our Raccoon

This raccoon was given to us as a gift. We have named him Jack. He smells really great, but his temper is perhaps his most endearing quality. He complains about being hungry all the time, and we have to remind him that raccoons eat out of the trash can. Despite his ornery disposition, Jack is a sweetheart, and has become my best friend. As our bond grew, Jack started to confide in me his experiences in the Vietnam war. Seeing as he”s only two years old, i have to remind him that the flashbacks are purely part of his overly active imagination. He complained quite loudly the first time i put him into the microwave, but subsequent encounters with said appliance have been more enjoyable for Jack. When he finally does fall asleep, Jack is the most contented raccoon on the planet. His scent of rosemary and lavender keep me calm, and he warms my heart (especially straight from the mircowave). Everyone should have a Jack.
